Since their first vintage, Celia Welch has been the winemaker at Keever Vineyards, located in the western hillsides of the Mayacamas range in Yountville. And regardless of vintage, when we include Keever’s Cabernet Sauvignon into tasting line-ups it is continually one of the best tasting. I have been a longtime fan and supporter of Bill and Olga Keever’s wines made by Celia Welch and enjoy tasting their new releases each spring. Comprised of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with 2.4% Malbec and 1.9% Petit Verdot, this newly released 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers “bright purple aromas of boysenberry, mulberry, and warm summer briars that invite a closer look at this fully ripe Cabernet. Plush and satiny at entry, the purple fruit flavors are enveloped in mocha, vanilla and warm spice tones.” The tannins are completely integrated into this release and the wine showcases lush, rich fruit. It is a beautiful Cabernet and jumps out of the glass almost immediately upon opening. 1013 cases were produced.
