What a hidden Cabernet gem we found...the vintner behind this noteworthy Cabernet is none other than Donald Patz, the founder of Patz & Hall Winery. He recently visited us to share his lineup of new wines because after selling Patz & Hall, instead of heading into retirement, he went straight back into the vineyards. This was one of the highlights from our tasting with him. Comprised of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this 2018 comes from two grower vineyards- Hirondelle Vineyard in Stags Leap District and Edcora Vineyard in Atlas Peak. Donald fermented the wine in stainless steel and aged it in 100% new French oak. This newest vintage offers “blackcurrant, blueberry and black-truffle aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with creamy tannins and a beautiful finish. Lovely balance to this. Crafted tannins. Drinkable now, but better after 2022." 94 Points, James Suckling. 600 cases were produced.
