While it seems like 100-Point wines are more common today than a decade or definitely two decades ago, I was still impressed when reading that this newly released 2018 Wraith is the 6th 100-Point Wraith wine for Jayson Woodbridge’s Hundred Acre! 2018 marks the 7th vintage of Wraith, the culmination of blending select barrels from Hundred Acre’s three single vineyard Cabernets – Kayli Morgan, Few & Far Between and Ark Vineyards. For the last decade, vintner Jayson Woodbridge tried to create a blend from select barrels from Kayli Morgan and Ark Vineyards, but he didn’t like how they turned out. It wasn’t until the 2013 vintage with the additional Few & Far Between that he completed a blend he thought was truly exceptional. This special bottling is meant to take on the best characteristics of what each single vineyard provides. “Deep garnet-purple, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith drifts effortlessly out of the glass with compelling scents of Morello cherries, boysenberry preserves and blackcurrant pastilles, plus hints of unsmoked cigars, wild sage, underbrush, and pencil shavings. The taut, tightly packed, muscular, full-bodied palate quakes with energy, supported by beautifully ripe, grainy tannins, finishing incredibly long and provocatively perfumed. So lively and layered, this Wraith perfectly captures the captivating vibrancy of this great, great vintage!” 100 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Wines can begin shipping February 28th.
