This 2016 is a great-drinking Cabernet Sauvignon that is drinking really well now and is a must-try Napa Valley Red. “Broodingly deep ruby in color, 2016 Steady State shows fragrant notes of cassis buds, ripe red and black cherries, as well as warm, complex aromas of blackberry brambles, wild rosemary and lavender. Intense and focused on the palate, the tannins are well-proportioned, lending elegance and charm throughout the long, aromatic finish. While drinkable upon release, this wine has the balance and structure to drink nicely for 8 to 10 years.” Grapes were harvest by hand from four distinct AVAs within Napa Valley - Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena and Oak Knoll. It was aged for 18 months in 100% French Oak, 40% new French oak.
Vintner Josh Phelps' roots run deep in Napa Valley. He was raised in a winemaking family and exposed to the industry at a young age. He continued to build his knowledge of the business through college, selling wine, working harvests, and creating wine for friends with his father, Chris Phelps. Chris Phelps was the founding winemaker for Dominus Estate and later left to work with Caymus Vineyards, Swanson Vineyards and Inglenook Vineyard. After more than 30 years of making wine for others, Chris started Ad Vivum, which debuted with his 2008 debut vintage. Through these experiences, Josh learned the wine industry and started Grounded Wine Co. with the idea of wanting to produce high-quality wines that were reasonably priced so his friends and peers could enjoy them too. All of the wines Josh produces come from working with trusted farmers and childhood friends. And the vineyards he sources from are sustainable and showcase each region's strengths.
