Vintner Josh Phelps' roots run deep in Napa Valley. He was raised in a winemaking family and exposed to the industry at a young age. He continued to build his knowledge of the business through college, selling wine, working harvests, and creating wine for friends with his father, Chris Phelps. Chris Phelps was the founding winemaker for Dominus Estate and later left to work with Caymus Vineyards and Swanson Vineyards. After more than 30 years of making wine for others, Chris started Ad Vivum, which debuted with his 2008 debut vintage. Through these experiences, Josh learned the wine industry and started Grounded Wine Co. with the idea of wanting to produce high-quality wines that were reasonably priced so his friends and peers could enjoy them with him. All of the wines Josh produces come from working with trusted farmers and childhood friends. And the vineyards he sources from are sustainable and showcase each region's potential.
