Gentleman Farm began with the 2005 inaugural vintage and 50 cases were made. Today, vintners Joe Wolosz and Jeff Durham work with consulting winemaker, Jérôme Chéry, to produce about 900 cases of Napa Valley Reds and Whites. This 2019 Red is comprised of juicy Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Red fruit dominates during the initial impression with red currant and wild red cherry. Time in the glass opens the discovery of Bing cherry, pie cherries, cola, and black currant leaf. A savory character of herbs de Provence plays well with the texture associated with tannin and a dusty quality. The soft tannins are fine-grained and show persistence on the palate with the lengthy, layered finish. While this newest offering is ready to drink now, time in the cellar will only add to the complexity and evolution of secondary aromas and bouquets. Acidity and structure tell this wine will continue to evolve for another 8-10 years.
