As the master of blending grape varieties into seductive offerings, this 2015 marks the fourth vintage of El Coco Red for Vintner/winemaker Dave Phinney and winemaker Kevin Fox. They have produced a silky rich Red that is a blend of 56% Old Vine Zinfandel 27% Petite Sirah 17% Merlot. They barrel aged them separately for a year before blending them to get to the final offering which offers bold fruit, firm structure yet with a silky texture. "Bold and concentrated, the 2015 El Coco is abundant in a ripe dark fruit continuum—black plums and boysenberry compote—and a hint of meatiness and toffee. Energetic and rich on the palate, the wine radiates with dark stone fruits, cinnamon and fresh Madagascar vanilla. With a nice balance of acidity, tannin and fruit, the El Coco begins to soften and finishes with length." – Kevin Fox.
