Another impressive, multi-layered Red by Rosemary Cakebread, this 2019 comes once again from This Napa Valley Red comes from Oakville Ranch Vineyard in the eastern hills of the Vaca Mountain range and is comprised of Cabernet Franc with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Their designated block of vineyard rests between 800-1400 feet in elevation and is farmed by renowned viticulturist, Phil Coturri. As Rosemary describes, it is “full of vitality and freshness. Succulent and juicy, medium in body, with luscious velvety tannins. The palate is lively with hints of dried herb, chapparal, dark chocolate, more savory than dark fruit in its youth. Our interpretation of Cabernet Franc straddles the divide between understated elegance, savory undertones, and California’s signature all with the esprit of low intervention winemaking.” Before venturing on her own to launch Gallica, Rosemary Cakebread was the winemaker at Spottswoode for over ten years, producing some of their best vintages to date. 175 cases were produced.
