Many know of Andy Erickson's efforts from his time as winemaker at Dalla Valle, Marciano Estate, Screaming Eagle, OVID and Staglin but his wife Annie Favia is also a major Napa Valley talent as a viticulturist. Gaining her tenured experience working with David Abreu, they produce outstanding wines and Carbone is delicious without needing extra years in the cellar. Their 2019 Red is a full-bodied, lush blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot and showcases “our favorite attributes of our Napa Valley vineyards, and the strength of the 2019 vintage: depth, concentration, finesse, and energy. Aromas of ripe black fruits, baking spices, and graphite are complemented by notes of orange blossom, red currant, cardamom, and fresh blueberry. On the palate there is a wonderful balance, subtle power, and a confident length, with flavors of raspberry, Luxardo cherries, pan grillé, and cocoa powder. This wine will certainly continue to open with time, but in such a special vintage, there is really no reason to wait.” Andy and Annie named this wine after the Carbone family, the previous owners of the property who first planted their vines in 1872. Andy and Annie restored the ghost winery and property to become the home for their family and wine.
