Many know of Andy Erickson's efforts as the winemaker at Dalla Valle and Marciano Estate and previously of Screaming Eagle, OVID and Staglin but his wife Annie Favia is also a major Napa Valley talent as a viticulturist. Gaining her tenured experience working with David Abreu, they produce outstanding wines. This newly released 2018 Carbone Cabernet Sauvignon is named after the Carbone family, the original owners of what is now Favia Winery. It is an instant crowd-pleaser. Full-bodied and lush, it is comprised of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Cabernet Franc. This 2018 is offers great purity of fruit and an amazing depth of character. On the nose are aromatics of fresh berries, clove, baking spices, as well as dried flowers and a hint of toasted oak. The wine has a mouth-filling structure and ample acidity and will certainly age for the next decade. It is about half the price of their Reds in their portfolio and almost a steal for the quality in the bottle.
