Since their inaugural 2000 vintage, we’ve been a fan of this wine project from Francoise Peschon and Lisa Drinkward. Most know of Francoise’s winemaking efforts from her days as the winemaker at Araujo and now making exceptional wine at VHR-Vine Hill Ranch, Cornell and Accendo Cellars. Lisa Drinkward and her husband own Behrens Family Winery. This 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is even better than their 2016 vintage offering bolder fruit notes with dark spice notes and a smooth finish. Sourced mainly from Blossom Creek Vineyard in the western hills of Calistoga, many know this grower vineyard as the source for Maybach’s Amoenus Cabernet. Entre Deux Mères literally translates from the French as “Between Two Mothers”. Their friendship was initiated by their children and grew through a love of wine, work and play. Now as they enter their 21st year, their children are all grown up yet their project remains exactly as they envisioned: small, hands on, and honest. Worth a lot more than its price point, this is one of our go-to Cabernet Sauvignons today.
