This Cabernet Franc comes from the 7-acre plot within the historic To Kalon Vineyard of old-vine Cabernet Franc whose lineage stretches back to the early history of grape growing in Napa Valley. Planted in 1949, it is thought to be the first planting of Cabernet Franc in Napa Valley and has been farmed by Detert for over 60 years. This delicious, supple Detert Cabernet Franc offers a classic texture, power and range of flavors that this vineyard produces. Dense, lush and layered in the mouth, this 2017 reveals flavors of licorice, dark chocolate, currant and fig preserves over a silky framework of tannin. The finish is long and plush and continues to build on the palate. 150 cases were produced. 

Detert is tucked into the hillside of the famed ToKalon Vineyard in Oakville and for years, grapes were sold to Mondavi Winery’s Reserve program. Since 2001, winemaker and vintner, Tom Garrett and his family have been keeping some fruit back for their own wine, Detert. Detert is considered to have the oldest plantings of Cabernet Franc in Napa Valley and produces one of the best single varietal offerings along with an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon that represents the best of Oakville's west bench.
