Vaso is the third wine for Dana Estates and is an incredible wine, especially considering the pedigree of their estate vineyards which goes into Vaso along with their winemaking team in place, with Philippe Melka as the head of winemaking. While their single vineyard Cabernets are $500+ per bottle, this is a great way to get introduced to Dana Estates and it is a great wine that can be enjoyed in its earlier years. Aromatically generous, the 2015 VASO Cabernet Sauvignon exudes fragrances of plum, sage, and cassis with hints of tobacco box and warm spices. Flavors of Bing cherry entice the front palate as the hillside fruit expression takes over, fusing flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate across the supple yet structured palate. Ripe strawberry and crème brûlée linger on the finish. Lush and approachable now, this wine will continue to soften and develop over the next five to ten years. Since their inception, Philippe Melka has been the head of the winemaking team and each year, have released wines of substance and longevity.
