Dakota Shy comes to us from Todd Newman and Tom Garrett, two collegues and friends who first met while working together at Revana Winery. Todd was the General Manager at Revana while Tom worked as their winemaker. You might also recognize Tom's name through his efforts at his family's winery, Detert, another great winery that exemplifies its sense of place in Oakville. 2012 marked their inaugural vintage and since then, they have been making waves in the wine community for their lush, full-bodied Reds. This newly released 2018 Cabernet is comprised of mainly Cabernet with a touch of Cabernet Franc. "The aromas show purposeful and elegant restraint – cedar, tobacco leaf, lavender, currant and dark cherry and earth. In the mouth, this shows a classic, powerful Napa Valley Cabernet with broad fine-grained tannins providing a seamless structure and precise balancing acidity.
