This newly released 2021 Red comes from Rudd's Mt. Veeder estate vineyard, situated between 800-1600 feet in elevation. It has been a long and deliberate journey for the Rudd team to reach this point of offering an Estate Red from this site, which began with the 2016 vintage. While the white varietals impressed us from the very beginning, the red varietals took their time to mature. However, thanks to their in-house vineyard and winemaking team led by Natalie Bath, their patience and perseverance have paid off. Comprised of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this debut vintage blend offers a delightful combination of "plush forest boysenberries and a warm cedar spice." The aromatics evolve with each swirl of the glass. On the palate, the full-bodied nature of this mountain wine shines through, filling the palate with generous blackberries, red currant, and a soft sweetness of plum. Secondary notes include dark roasted coffee, pencil shavings, and a firm tannin structure. Before enjoying, we recommend decanting the wine or letting it breathe with the cork removed for an hour or two.

Crossroads is estate grown, coming from the same vineyards, and crafted by the same winemaking team as Rudd Estate, making it a reflection of the place and the people of Rudd Estate. Despite the pedigree of an Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and Mt. Veeder Sauvignon Blanc, Crossroads is priced accessibly and is meant to be enjoyed upon release.
