Thanks to our ongoing relationship with the Colgin team, we have had the fortunate opportunity to taste library releases including this 2015 vintage. “A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cariad Proprietary Red Wine sports a very deep garnet-purple color and boasts a very savory nose of chargrill, roasted nuts and yeast extract over a core of blackberry pie, blueberry compote, menthol and Indian spices with wafts of violets and underbrush.” Cariad comes from David Abreu’s 8-acre vineyard at Madrona Ranch in the western St. Helena hillside that is rich with volcanic soil. Elevation ranges from 400-500 feet and the cool microclimate provides ideal temperatures for optimal ripeness of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot which grows there.
