Champagne Doyard ‘Vendemiaire’ Blanc de Blancs Brut NV
After being sold out for the past few months, we’re excited to have one of our favorites back from Vertus—a village in the Côte des Blancs region of Champagne, France. Founded in 1927 by Maurice Doyard, the estate is now led by Yannick Doyard. The family’s plots, located in the renowned Côte des Blancs—known as the premier area for Chardonnay production—are meticulously maintained with low yields to concentrate the wines. Unusually for the region, the wines are vinified in barrel, adding complexity and depth. Made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from a blend of 1er and Grand Cru vineyard sites, this wine spends an impressive 42 months aging in bottle. The result is a beautifully textured Champagne with notes of brioche and a distinctive minerality, creating a pleasing tension on the palate.

Champagne Salmon ‘100% Meunier’ Brut NV
With just 10 hectares of vineyards, Pinot Meunier is the star varietal at this Champagne house. While often overshadowed by the more common Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, when done right, offers a lush, racy character with distinct red fruit notes. We first tasted this Champagne about three years ago as it was making its debut in the US, and we’ve been thinking about its captivating flavor ever since. The Champagne Salmon 100% Meunier Brut NV is a pure expression of Pinot Meunier from the Marne Valley. It opens with vibrant aromas of ripe stone fruit, apricot, and peach, accented by floral and brioche notes. The palate is full-bodied yet fresh, with flavors of orchard fruit, citrus zest, and toasted almonds. Its fine bubbles and balanced acidity lead to a crisp, mineral finish.

Champagne Charlier et Fils ‘Special Club’ Brut 2008
The Special Club classification is widely regarded as the highest honor a Champagne can receive. With only 28 grower-producer members, this exclusive club is dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality. Special Club Champagne is only made in the most outstanding vintages and must pass a rigorous tasting panel that includes all club members, wine professionals, and an enologist. After 2008, the next vintage to earn Special Club status wasn’t until 2015.

Founded in 1892 in the Vallée de la Marne, Charlier et Fils is now run by the fifth generation. They follow traditional methods, using native fermentation and aging wines in large oak barrels, which adds a beautiful roundness, unlike many modern producers who use commercial yeast and stainless steel. This 2008 ‘Special Club’ was sourced from the oldest vines in the best plots of the Charlier family holdings. With 70% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier and a remarkable fourteen years of aging, this is a magnificently complex Champagne with notes of brioche, rich caramelized hazelnut and meyer lemon zest.

Champagne Delamotte ‘Blanc de Blancs’ Brut NV
Having recently been included in a tasting lineup for guests, this Blanc de Blancs was the star. It’s everything you’d expect from a 100% Chardonnay Champagne—the younger sibling of the renowned Champagne Salon—but at a fraction of the price and ready to enjoy now. Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV is an elegant Champagne crafted from 100% Chardonnay sourced from the same prized Grand Cru vineyards of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger that produce Salon. As the sister house to Salon, Delamotte shares a deep commitment to quality and terroir. Fresh and vibrant, this Blanc de Blancs offers notes of citrus, white flowers, and chalky minerality, with a refined texture and crisp finish. While Salon is only produced in exceptional vintages, Delamotte consistently delivers a sophisticated and approachable expression of the region, making it a perfect introduction to the legacy of these iconic Champagne houses.
