This 2014 library offering is “beautifully layered and a complex blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from three of David Abreu's own exceptional estate vineyards - Madrona, Thorevilos, and Lucia Howell Mountain. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, this powerhouse wine is made with the same attention to detail as the estate Cabernet Sauvignon. "Loads of forest floor and graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit dominate the complex set of aromatics. Like most 2014s, there is a softness and lushness, a full-bodied opulence, and a long, long finish.” Like the 2013 vintage, this wine is now showing its potential. 2014 was a more elegant vintage in general for Napa Valley than 2013 and 2015, so I would suggest opening this wine within the next few years. With a good decant, it will show beautifully.

Despite all the newcomers planting their roots on Pritchard Hill, a special geographic location resting above Oakville, Bryant Estate remains one of the best. As it overlooks Lake Hennessey, their vineyard faces northwest and has about 60% morning sun and 40% afternoon sun with a cooling effect from the western winds. Since their first vintage in 1992, they have been working with David Abreu as their vineyard manager with Michel Rolland as their consulting oenologist. KK Carothers now leads their winemaking team.
