This 2017 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, like in previous vintages, is a blend of single vineyard barrels including Ritchie Vineyard, Banfield Vineyard and UV-El Diablo Vineyard. It immediately shines in the glass with aromas of "poached pears, lemon peel, baker's yeast and golden apples with touches of citrus blossom and hazelnut. The palate is light to medium-bodied, silky and fresh with pure fruits and a juicy finish." Texturely, it is silky and rich but offers balance from the notes of minerality and acidity. Vintner Mark McWilliams has charted Arista's course as one of the most sought-after Chardonnays and Pinot Noir producers today. Arista’s winemaker is Matt Courtney who is known for making great Chardonnay and Pinot Noir when he worked at Marcassin and now with his own wines, Ferren.
