After working 18 harvests in Napa Valley as the assistant winemaker to Philippe Melka, Thomas Rivers Brown, Mike Smith and Mark Herold, Shawn Johnson was thrilled to launch his personal label, ALTAR in 2018. The name derives from a John Muir quote, "...all the world seems a church and the mountains altars," which speaks to his passion for spending time outdoors and connecting deeply with nature—in vineyards, his home garden, on mountains and the California coast. This wine hails from two Napa Valley appellations, Diamond Mountain and Yountville, and offers the best of both worlds. It opens with aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry and evolves into a soft, supple medley of deep cherry, cranberry and baking spices. Drink now through 2026. 100 cases were produced.
