Vintner Chris Phelps was the founding winemaker for Dominus Estate and later left to work with Caymus and then Swanson. After more than 30 years of making wine for others, Chris started Ad Vivum, which debuted with his 2008 debut vintage. Showing constant improvement, the 2016 Ad Vivum picks up where the 2015 left off. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and comes from Sleeping Lady Vineyard, which in the western bench of Yountville. Dark ruby in color, the 2016 Ad Vivum leads with dazzling aromas of cassis, violets and wild fennel. Texturally, the wine is fresh and silky, with an underlying core of dense tannic structure that adds both tension and balance. A timeless expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the best recent Napa vintages, the 2016 will drink now through 2050. 437 cases were produced.
